Almost 36 million acres of federally-owned land may be soon off-limits to off-road enthusiasts in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming.  There are two sides to every story and this story is no different.  One one side you have the environmentalists and on tehother side you have people who want to use the land.  My job here is to simply make all aware of the potential legislation htat may restrict the access to federal land.

  • House Resolution 980 - the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act - 26.6 million acres in Oregaon, Washington and Wyoming.
  • Senate Bill 779 - America's Red Rock Wilderness Act - 9.4 million acres in weatern Utah.
  • Senate Bill 721 & House Resolution 1769 - will add 22,000 acres to the 394,000-acre Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area in Washington.

Off-road bikers may have less land to roam free

The American Motorcycle Association is currently fighting these and other legislative efforts that impinge on what they view as infringements of their motorcycle condtituency to use the land.  They have a web page where you can go and find out who your legislators are and email them with your view.
