May is (or was) Motorcycle Safety Month. As May becomes a memory it is not too late to learn how to properly ride a motorcycle.
Salt Lake Community College offers motorcycle safety classes throughout the year. They offer classes for all riders – beginners, experienced riders, advanced riders, sportbike riders, and even riders that have ridden before but need a refresher course. They even offer a class for women only. BTW, women are quickly becoming a larger portion of the demographic of motorcycle riders.

All riders can benefit from a course learning how to avoid dangerous situations and enjoy your chosen sport. As they say on the website, it is a fact that many vehicle drivers just do not see motorcycles!
Another great resource for motorcycle safety learning is at the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. The benefits of motorcycle safety training offered include:
• Approximately 40 percent increase in content on rider perception and seeking escape paths
• Approximately 15 percent increase in practice time for swerving and other collision-avoidance skills
• Approximately 30 percent more classroom and range content on negotiating curves and cornering skills
• Addition of an eCourse to reach even more current and prospective motorcyclists with the basic cognitive aspects of rider education
As an added bonus many insurance companies will provide a discount to your premium when you prove you have successfully completed the class. If that is not enough, the learning you get may help you avoid that dreaded crash! So enroll in a class and enjoy the summer!
