Hello follow bikers_ George Tait here, Utah Bike Law.
We're going to talk a bit about the injuries that visit bikers when they are crashed into by offending
vehicles.
One is spine injuries; spine injuries can be devastating; they can be acute.
They happen after the crash, immediately after the crash, and they are often painful or you can
more or less heal and enjoy your life. You can have herniated discs that can cause pain for a longer
period of time without any intervention-_surgery for example–leading to chronic pain. Of course,
you can far worse injury and become a paraplegic or quadriplegic as a result of damage to the
spine.
We go to trial quite often and you know we have all kinds of exhibits. This is a spine exhibit
obviously, you have the pelvis here, which another type of bad injury, oftentimes requiring being
laid up in bed for an extended period of time. Painful, you bear weight on our pelvis which is the
main girdle of the skeleton, bearing weight, transfers all your weight from your legs to your pelvis
and up your spine allowing us to walk upright like the rest of the apes.
Here you have your cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spines. Each of these can be damaged in a
motorcycle crash and cause horrible, horrible injuries. Like I said, lasting for weeks, sometimes
months, years and sometimes a lifetime.
You have got to have somebody in your corner, a law firm that knows some medicine, knows how
to get to trial, knows what to do. Whether you get to trial or not, the insurance company knows
who will and will not go to trial and represent you well. So, you need a law firm that's going to
fight the insurance companies.
Words of advice, be careful out there.
