May is Motorcycle Awareness Month! Not only is this a great time for you to spread motorcycle awareness, it is also a great time for you to double check yourself. Sometimes it is easy to let yourself become lax in your safety precautions.
It is extremely important to keep up on your safety routines as the weather gets nice enough to ride. You can't control how other people drive but you can control how you drive!
To Helmet or Not to Helmet
We at Utah Bike Law will not tell you what to do or what to wear. We just want to give you facts! Not every state in the United States requires motorcycle riders to wear a helmet. In the state of Utah, “(a) No person under the age of 21 shall operate or ride upon a motorcycle or motor-driven cycle upon a public highway unless such person is wearing protective headgear which complies with standards established by the commissioner of public safety.” So, in the state of Utah, those under the age of 21 are REQUIRED to wear a helmet. However, over the age of 21, you can decide to wear a helmet or not.
Making People Aware of Motorcycles
There are only so many things you can do to make people aware of motorcycles. Posting videos and pictures of looking out for motorcycles is great! It is a great marketing tactic to post something multiple times because it will stick in people's heads more. Posting Motorcycle Awareness Month posts makes people more aware of motorcycles because they just saw an awareness post. Repetition is key when you want someone to know something!
We will be posting more blogs about what you can do to make Motorcycle Awareness Month worthwhile! Make the roads safer for bikers!
